WEEKLY RATE – Interest Rates Choppy Before FED Interest Rate Decision
Mortgage rates swung up and down last week on a daily basis but at the end of the week, rates ended very similarly to where they started.
The Mortgage Backed Security (MBS) market traded up + 9 bps last week and is currently trading up + 24 bps this week.
On Thursday, the European Central Bank is issuing their policy statement. If they issue a large extension to their bond purchasing program, we could see some rate improvement.
Next week on 12/14 the FED will issue their interest rate decision. Will likely be some volatility before and after decision.
My interest rate outlook remains the same – I expect interest rate pricing to slowly rise. I do not recommend waiting on the sidelines especially for a refinance. I had many people do that in October and are now are upset with rate pricing .5% higher. Rates are moving up and I would lock in if you want to do a loan.
