WEEKLY RATE – RATES REMAIN ON HIGH END OF NARROW RANGE

WEEKLY RATE – Rates Remain on High End of Narrow Range

Interest rates are starting to stick at the high end of the range they have been in for 4 months.

Rates right now are at their highest levels since June, but the rates are only about .125% higher than they have been.

Expect rates to continue to stay in the same narrow range until December when the FED has their next policy meeting to decide on Federal Funds Rate and also the European Central Bank is scheduled to decide on the future of their bond buying program.

I don’t expect the Presidential election to affect rates that much.

Most traders are in a wait and see mode until December.  I don’t see rates fluctuating to much until then.  That being said, I do think rates will go up in December.

WEEKLY RATE – Rates Rising / Recommend Locking

Interest rates have steadily been rising with expectations that Europe will taper their bond purchasing program which the United States FED did some time ago.

The Mortgage Backed Security Market (MBS) closed last week trading down – 43 bps, pushing interest rate pricing to the highest levels post Brexit or since the end of June.

With this being said, rates are still great but they are slightly higher than they have been and there is pressure for them to move higher with more expectations that the FED will increase the Federal Fund rate in December with another positive job growth month in September.

With the pressure on mortgage backed securities, the safe bet is to lock.
