Weekly Rate – Rates Remain Steady

WEEKLY RATE – Rates Remain Steady

Interest rates remained steady in a narrow range for another week as they have done for over a month.

There have been small movements but nothing earth shattering that has effected rates substantially.

The MBS market closed last week trading down – 20 bps.  So far, this week the MBS market is trading up + 19 bps.

Later this week FED Chief Janet Yellen is speaking.  That could cause some market movement but I don’t expect anything major until the US Non Farm Payroll report in the first week of September.

Rates are still very attractive , slightly higher than lowest rate pricing in history.

Interest Rates Remain Steady

WEEKLY RATE – Rates Slightly Improve After FED Minutes

WEEKLY RATE – Rates Slightly Improve After FED Minutes

August 2016

Rates have been fluctuating in a pretty narrow range since BREXIT brought interest rates back to record low levels.

Interest rates have stayed pretty similar over the past 2 weeks – teeter tottering up and down in a narrow range.

Last week, the Mortgage Backed Security (MBS) market closed trading up +23 bps, and this week the market is trading up + 9 bps through Wednesday.

Rate pricing had been moving up prior to the FED Minutes released on Wednesday.  The FED Minutes go over the commentary of the FED meetings.

It appears that a Federal Funds rate increase is on the table for September and December but they still need more data to make sure the labor/economic market is improving enough where they feel comfortable in making the increase.

Most investors feel that a Federal Funds rate increase in December or into 2017 is more likely than a move coming up in September.

Rates slightly higher than their lowest levels over the past 2 months – but still close to historic lows.

Weekly Rate – Rates Slightly Improve After FED Minutes

WEEKLY RATE – Rates Move Up After Friday’s Strong Job Report

WEEKLY RATE – Rates Improve After FED Statement

August 2016

Interest rate pricing moved up last week highlighted by the strong jobs report on Friday.  Job creation in July came in at 255,000 jobs compared to a forecast 180,000 jobs.  Wage growth also grew .3%.  These stronger than expected numbers pushed the Mortgage Backed Security (MBS) market down and interest rate pricing up.

The MBS market closed the week trading down – 41 bps.

Although interest rate pricing is slightly higher today – interest rate pricing has stayed in a tight range for a month after Brexit with some small ups and downs along the way.

Still a great time to lock in at some of the lowest rates ever.

WEEKLY RATE – RATES MOVE UP AFTER FRIDAY’S STRONG JOBS REPORT

WEEKLY RATE – Rates Improve After FED statement

WEEKLY RATE – Rates Improve After FED Statement

August 2016

Happy August!!

Interest rate pricing had a great week last week with the Mortgage Backed Security (MBS) market closing higher the last 4 days of the week and closing the week trading up + 57 bps.

The FED’s statement that they would not raise rates nor had a timetable for a rate change certainly helped rates push lower along with Q2 GDP numbers coming well below expectations.  Rate pricing is back down to it’s recent lows before a week filled with economic data this week.

There are a bunch of important economic indicator reports this week capped by the July US Non Farm Payroll report on Friday.

Interest rates are at a 2 week lows but some experts think there is still room for improvement with stocks selling at higher prices than economic data would suggest.
