Rates Move Higher with February’s Employment Report

Interest rates climbed rapidly on Friday with job creation numbers that beat their projections. On Friday alone, the Mortgage Backed Security (MBS) market traded down -77 bps and closed the week down -130 bps. Luckily, there was some improvement Monday with the MBS market closing up + 30 bps.
30 year fixed rates are now available at 3.875% paying .58 points (3.99% APR), and 3.99% paying 0 points (4.03% APR). 15 year fixed rates are now available at 3.125% paying .47 points (3.21% APR), and 3.25% paying 0 points (3.29% APR).
In the grand scheme of things – rates are still very good even though they went up about .125% last week.
