Mortgage Rates Improve – Remain at/near lowest levels of 2014

Interest improved last week with the Mortgage Backed Security (MBS) trading up + 95 bps – pushing rates to their lowest levels of 2014 again. Interest rates had some pull back on Monday with the MBS market trading down – 27 bps.

Overall – 30 year fixed rates are still great with a well qualified customer able to get a 3.5% with .5 points today. 3.875% at 0 points. 15 year fixed rates are running at 3% with .75 points, and 3.25% with 0 points. Lastly, 5/1 ARMs are running at 2.875% with .75 points, and 3.125% with 0 points.

This week we don’t have a ton going on in the markets outside of the FOMC meeting/press conference on Wednesday. The FED is expected to comment on the federal funds rate and how long it will keep it low.

With rates being so good right now – I would suggest locking in before Wednesday as there could be some volatility and I don’t see much hope in rates going lower than their current levels.
